A Bit About Me

I live in Hamilton and grew up in rural Plymouth, Illinois. I recently retired from a career in Diagnostic Imaging, working in areas such as X-ray and ultrasound. Today, I serve as the Outreach Coordinator for Holy Archangels Parish, which includes Sts. Peter & Paul in Nauvoo, Immaculate Conception in Carthage, and Sacred Heart in Warsaw.

I've been volunteering at Legacy Theater for about 10 years. It all started when a volunteer group I belonged to was asked to provide ushers for one of the theater's performances. The experience was so enjoyable that I decided to continue volunteering on my own.

One of my favorite memories at Legacy Theater was attending the Kelsey Grammer show. Experiences like that make volunteering even more rewarding, but what I enjoy most is greeting audience members, helping them find their seats, and making them feel welcome. The other volunteers, staff, and board members are wonderful to work with, and it's always a fun experience. As an added bonus, you get to enjoy the show!

Volunteering brings me a great deal of joy and satisfaction because I know I'm helping others. I also know that the time volunteers give helps keep ticket prices affordable, making live theater accessible to more people in our community.

One thing audiences may not realize is how much care goes into supporting the performers behind the scenes. Before many shows, the board members and staff arrange or provide meals and refreshments for the cast and crew, helping ensure they are cared for and ready to give their best performance.
