I've been volunteering with Legacy Theater for the past 20 years, helping make it a place where our community can gather to experience the magic of live performance. Behind the scenes is exactly where I prefer to be, quietly contributing my time and talents to help ensure the theater continues to thrive.

Outside of Legacy Theater, I've served as the Facilities Director at Memorial Hospital since 1998. My wife, Paula, and I have been married for 35 years, and we're the proud parents of Alex and Jessica. Our family has continued to grow with the addition of four granddaughters, ranging in age from just 3 weeks to 3 years old.

My Legacy Theater story began when Rob Carson asked me to help prepare the old auditorium for the very first Christmas Wish production. At the time, the building had sat empty for years, and one of my earliest memories is pumping water out of the basement while listening to Rob share his vision for what the theater could become. Every time I walk through the doors today, I'm amazed by the transformation because I remember firsthand what it was like two decades ago.

I continue to volunteer because it's my way of giving back to the community and helping ensure the theater remains a vibrant part of it. I have no desire to be in the spotlight, but I take great pride in being part of something that brings so much joy to others. Working behind the scenes allows me to make a meaningful contribution while staying out of the public eye.

Volunteering has strengthened my connection to the community and given me the satisfaction of knowing I have something valuable to contribute. I truly believe the theater's success depends on its volunteers. Without people willing to give their time, talents, and expertise, Legacy Theater simply couldn't accomplish its mission.

If someone is considering volunteering, my advice is simple: Do it! It doesn't require a huge time commitment, and the rewards are well worth it.

If you've ever wondered what happens behind the scenes, there's much more involved than most audiences realize. From managing a fully computer-controlled heating and cooling system to the challenging task of replacing the light fixtures above the audience, countless details have to come together before the curtain rises. It's work most patrons never see, but it's an essential part of creating an exceptional theater experience.
